Nowadays, women are already a majority in Parana’s schools and universities. Additionally, young women already achieve higher educational levels than men. However, the discrepancies still remain in the job market. In the formal employment field, a women’s income represents 78% of a man’s income. Among people with 12 or more years of schooling, the men gain, per hour, 70% more than women. The women’s participation in Legislative and political processes is also low: the number of women that are candidates to public positions is near the minimum established by law (20%) demanding (20%), and of these, only 11% were elected in the last elections. Only 6% of Parana’s cities have mayors that are female.
