Goal 2 - Achieve universal primary education

In the Paraná state, 4,5% of children between 7 and 14 years are out of the educational system. In High School, the situation is even worse. Because of evasion and discrepancy, the rate of registration is just a little over than 50%. Besides the frequency of children and young people in school, the other concerning problem is the quality of teaching. A specific test showed that almost half of students that were entering high school had poor knowledge about mathematics.

Goals Indicators

Ensure that by 2015, children everywhere, boys and girls, will be able to complete a full course of primary schooling

Adjustednet enrolment ratio in primary education.
Proportion of students that begin the first year and reach the fifth grade.

Literacy rate in age from 15 to 24 years.

How to help

  • Support programs that create opportunities and stimulate the access to junior high school
  • Develop actions to prevent and eradicate child labor
  • Improve the basic school equipment and provide courseware and reading materials
  • Support training programs for teachers of public schools
  • Organize writing contests and reading workshops to improve text comprehension in schools
  • Build and maintain libraries, video libraries, and toy rooms in the communities, schools or social organizations. Organize campaigns to collect books, videos and magazines.
  • Implant complementary educational programs with family involvement. Pursing a goal of the students remaining in school.
  • Help to identify socioeconomic challenges that interfere in primary schooling and support communities with the leadership to deal with these challenges.
