Produção de alumínio cai no 1.° trimestre do ano
Redução da tarifa de energia não foi suficiente para diminuir custos das indústrias do setor
A Associação Brasileira do Alumínio (ABAL) divulgou, no final de abril, que a produção de alumínio primário caiu no primeiro trimestre de 2013. Segundo a entidade, a produção no período somou 339,3 mil toneladas, o que indica uma queda de 6,8% em relação ao volume de 364,1 mil toneladas produzido no mesmo período do ano anterior.
A desoneração da energia elétrica não foi suficiente para equilibrar os custos, por isso as plantas de alumínio tiveram que diminuir produção para administrar as operações. Segundo a ABAL, apesar da medida ter sido positiva, ainda não atingiu um patamar que resgate os custos operacionais competitivos.
“De toda forma, o setor está garantindo o suprimento doméstico, destinando ao mercado interno parte do volume que seria exportado”, informa a entidade. No período de janeiro a março de 2013, as exportações de alumínio primário e ligas recuaram 10,3%, passando de 141 mil toneladas para 126,4 mil toneladas.
Preços – Os valores do metal também estão em baixa no mercado internacional. Em março, a cotação média da tonelada foi de US$ 1,9 mil na Bolsa de Metais de Londres (LME). Em abril, ficou em US$ 1,8 mil. São os menores patamares desde os impactos negativos causados pela turbulência financeira global de 2008. O preço médio do alumínio no primeiro trimestre foi 8,1% menor do que registrado no mesmo período do ano passado. Na comparação com o fim de 2012, a queda acumulada este ano é de 4%.
