Experience:
Christian Albanesi has acted as counsel in numerous international arbitrations in ICC,
ICSID, Buenos Aires Stock Exchange or ad hoc arbitration proceedings, in the fields of
acquisitions, construction, oil & gas and joint ventures. Christian joined Linklaters from
the ICC International Court of Arbitration where, in his position as Managing Counsel, he
supervised the nine case management teams to ensure uniformity of practices and
decisions of the ICC Court. He previously held the position of Counsel in charge of the
Latin America, Spain and Portugal case management team where he oversaw hundreds
of cases pending under the ICC Rules from filing through scrutiny and notification of
awards.
Transactions of significance where substantial involvement can be disclosed have
included:
– Counsel for a former subsidiary of one of France’s leading oil and gas companies, in
connection with an ad hoc arbitration in Stockholm under UNCITRAL rules brought
by a private entity and by two Regions of the Russian Federation purporting to be
contracting parties to an agreement for oil exploration in Russia dating from the early
1990s that had never come into effect. The matter also involves related court
litigation in France (in which we have participated) and in Sweden.
– Advised a Latin American publicly-own entity in the field of generation and
transmission of energy, in connection with an ad hoc arbitration in Washington D.C.
brought against a private entity in relation to the alleged failure to supply the agreed
quantities of natural gas.
– Advised a Latin American manufacturer of fish oil, in connection with a GAFTA
arbitration in London against a private entity in relation to a breach of contract.
– Counsel for Western European insurance companies, in connection with an ICC
arbitration and parallel proceedings before state courts filed by an Eastern European
company over the alleged unlawful termination of an SPA.
– Counsel for French and Spanish investors in Argentina, in connection with an ICSID
arbitration brought against the State for their investments in a concession for water
distribution and waste water treatment and a series of alleged acts and omissions by
the State, including failure to apply previously agreed adjustments to tariff calculation.

– Counsel for an American corporation in the oil and gas sector, in connection with an
ICC arbitration in Buenos Aires brought against local businessmen for the acquisition
of shares in a third company upon the exercise of preferential rights
– Counsel for an Argentine constructor in a domestic arbitration in Buenos Aires
against a multinational hotel chain in relation to the construction of a hotel in
Argentina.
– Counsel for a telecommunication company in proceedings before the Argentine
Supreme Court, in connection with a class action brought by a consumer protection
association in relation to allegedly abusive practices of the company.
